Balloon FAQ

Q. How long will my balloons last?

A. This depends on a number of factors, and what type of balloons you order. For mylar balloons, the answer is anywhere from 3 days to a week (maybe longer!!). With regard to latex balloons, we inflate our top quality Qualatex balloons with Hi-Float (a non-toxic gooey concoction that seals up microscopic holes in the balloon). We generally find that a Qualatex latex balloon with Hi-Float will look fresh for 48-72 hours (indoors), and can *float* for up to a week. In comparison, a Qualatex balloon without hi-float will last for about 12 hours, and a no-name generic balloons will last about 3-6 (we do not sell these!). However, several factors will affect the float time of your balloons (see next faq).

Q. What factors affect these float times?

A. First, helium expands in hot temperatures, and shrinks in cold temperatures. So, if you leave your balloons in a hot car (even if it is just for a minute) they can pop. Balloons can also pop if you turn the heat in your car on high. We aren't saying that you should freeze while transporting your balloons...but keep the heat on medium! Conversely, if you leave balloons in a cold car, the helium inside the balloons will shrink. This will be much more noticeable with the mylar balloons. If the exposure to cold was for a very short time, they warm up, the helium re-expands, and they look just fine. For this reason, we do not recommend using mylar balloons outdoors when the temperature is below 45 degrees. Latex balloons can be used outdoors down to about 20 degrees.

Several other factors can affect float time, including how the balloons are handled (are they sitting undisturbed, or are children playing with them, are they being beaten by wind, etc). Direct sunshine will alter the appearance of balloons making them appear dull after a while, especially outdoors. Traveling to higher altitudes will cause the helium expand slightly (let us know if you are transporting balloons to Livingston or Big Sky and we will account for this). Static electricity can also cause spontaneous popping. Blazing hot outside?? Touch the glass on the windows in your car, it might actually be hot enough to pop balloons! Ordering a delivery bag with your balloons solves this problem by keeping balloons contained!

Q. If I am placing a same day order, how long will it take to have my order ready for pickup or delivery?

A. It depends on the size of your order, and how busy we are. In general, the fact that we do not have a retail store front does not slow down how quickly your balloons can be ready. This actually allows us to be much faster since we are not conducting face-to-face retail transactions while simultaneously trying to fill your balloons. If we aren't backed up with orders, we will have your order available for pickup about 10 minutes after we finish inflating it!

Q. Can I pay with cash or check?

A. We cannot accept cash or check purchases at our pickup location, however you CAN pay with cash or check if your order is being delivered. You must order by phone for this option, and delivery drivers do not carry change.
